Art on the Trails begins its third year.

I am pleased as ever to announce the launching of our third year of Art on the Trails.

Theme: Marking Territory

Our theme this year is Marking Territory. While animals naturally mark their territory in the wild, human animals have their own ways of marking territory, emotionally and spatially. Artists are invited to interpret this theme in a way that makes their mark in the woods at Beals Preserve.

Call For Art

The call for art opens on Friday, March 1 and continues until April 22. View the submission guidelines here.

Shana Dumont Garr

Art Juror Announced

We are pleased to welcome Shana Dumont Garr, Curator at Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, MA, as our 2019 juror. We welcome her expertise in choosing the work you will see on the trails this summer. Read more about Shana.

Funding

Accepting a generous grant from Southborough Community Fund in November. Pictured from left to right: SCF members Andrew Abu and Marybeth Strickland, Art on the Trails Director Catherine Weber, and Southborough Open Land Foundation members Deborah Costine and Sally Watters.

We are honored to have major funding again this year from Southborough Community Fund, who are partnering with us to bring Art on the Trails to a new level and let our community know about what SCF has to offer. Look for them at our opening and closing events this spring and fall.
We have also received generous grants from Southborough Cultural Arts Council and Northborough Arts Council this year. These three grants will give us the funds to improve signage and draw audiences from further reaching towns through marketing.

Artist Tours

As we wait for the spring thaw, we will schedule guided walking tours of Beals Preserve. Tour dates will likely be in late March. However, feel free to visit the Preserve on your own or contact me at cweber@artonthetrials.com to arrange something in the evening or on a weekend.
