Public Installations

Members of the general public of all ages and talents are invited to contribute art installations at Beals Preserve beginning on June 8th, after the juried exhibition opening reception. Those interested in participating are encouraged to attend one of our site walk events or visit Beals Preserve on your own. Beals Preserve Map.

To participate, please complete the following form. We reserve the right to remove any installation that does not adhere to the following guidelines:

  • This is a Leave No Trace exhibit; from installation to dismantling, nature must be left intact and all materials brought to the site must be removed at the end of the show.
  • By installing work in the Preserve, artists acknowledge Southborough Open Land Foundation assumes no liability for artwork on the property during the exhibition.
  • No public installation should be placed so as to block a trail or in any way restrict access to Beals Preserve.
  • Artists must agree to the exhibition terms below in order for their work to be installed in Beals Preserve. Work placed without agreeing to the terms will be removed.

“ART ON THE TRAILS” AGREEMENT

This is an agreement to exhibit my artwork in the 2017 Art on the Trails event to be held at Beals Preserve in Southborough, MA, made between the artist and Southborough Open Land Foundation (SOLF).

The Artist attests that s/he is the sole creator and owner of said works of art and that s/he possesses the numbered title of said works.

SHOW DATES

  • The Public Installation Component of the 2017 Art on the Trails event at Beals Preserve in Southborough will run from Thursday, June 8 rd to Saturday, September 16th.
  • Both parties agree that no work shall be removed from Beals Preserve for the duration of the exhibition without mutual written and signed approval.

SHOW MOUNTING AND DISMANTLING

  • The installation of the Artist’s work at Beals Preserve shall take place between Thursday, June 8th and Friday, September 16.
  • The dismantling of the show shall take place between Sunday, September 17th and Thursday, September 21st. The Artist agrees to remove all artwork from Beals Preserve by September 21st unless provisions have been made with SOLF.

LIABILITY

The Artist acknowledges and agrees that SOLF is not responsible nor liable for any damage incurred to artwork during shipping, transportation or display at the exhibition.

SUBMISSIONS

The form above detailing the works submitted, title, medium, size, and date created is hereby incorporated into this contract.

2017 ART ON THE TRAILS AGREEMENT

  • SOLF will prepare and send press releases to local publications. SOLF will also list the exhibition on its web site.
  • The artist grants SOLF an irrevocable, royalty-free license to use images of the work in any and all forms of media, in materials for non-profit educational and fundraising purposes, and for publicizing this exhibition. SOLF agrees to credit the Artist in any such use of his/her artwork.

OTHER PROVISIONS

  • SOLF retains the right to final authority for all curatorial decisions.
  • SOLF cannot and does not take responsibility for the protection or maintenance of any artwork submitted by the Artist. By signing this agreement, the Artist understands and accepts that s/he hereby releases SOLF from any loss or damage that may occur to his/her artwork during the exhibition, and/or for personal injury that might occur during transport to or from the Beals Preserve site.
  • This entire Agreement sets forth the entire understanding and agreement of the parties hereto and supersedes any and all prior agreements, understandings, promises, communications, announcements, representations and warranties with respect to the subject matter in this Agreement.
