Poetry Submission Guidelines

Art on the Trails welcomes submissions of ekphrastic poetry in response to the artwork as exhibited in the Art on the Trails: Finding Solace in the Woods installation in Beals Preserve, Southborough, Massachusetts. Poetry submissions accepted from June 7, 2017 through July 7, 2017.

  • Please submit up to five original, ekphrastic poems. Poems should be no longer than one page in length, in a standard font and size. For example, Times New Roman 12 point font.
  • Please include a short bio (about 50 words in length) with your work, to include your writing and educational background, as well as your publishing name, if applicable.
  • Please include your contact information: legal name, address, phone number, and email.
  • Please include a list of your poems along with the artwork you are responding to in each poem.
  • Each submission should be in .doc or .docx format. Each page should contain the title of the piece and your name as well as the name and title of the artwork by which you were inspired.
  • Simultaneous submissions are allowed but you must withdraw the work immediately if accepted elsewhere.
  • Submissions must be previously unpublished, original works.
  • We are not looking for any gratuitous violence or sex or any work that is misogynistic, racist, or homophobic.
  • Please submit no more than 5 poems in one submission. You may send in multiple submissions, but each submission must contain no more than 5 poems.
  • We will respond to all submission on or before July 21st, 2017.
  • All selected work will be featured in a chapbook with corresponding artwork to be published by The Tishman Review. Each selected poet will receive one complimentary copy of the chapbook. All selected poets will be invited to read their work at the closing reception to be held at Beals Preserve in Southborough, MA, on September 24th, 2017.
