Rising from the oldest desert in the world, those mountains are marked by what appear to be the soft folds of draped fabric. After centuries without significant rain, the Atacama flooded in 2019 as a result of precipitation increases brought about by climate change. The paradox of a process of prolonged exposure producing draping forms associated with the idea of concealment offers a provocative object of meditation for viewers facing an increasingly unprotected world.
