Art Installations Scheduled for June 13 for Art on the Trails: Time in the Landscape at Beals Preserve in Southborough
May 20, 2026, Southborough, MA. The Southborough Open Land Foundation invites the general public to visit Beals Preserve on Saturday, June 13, from 10 am to 5 pm to watch artists install their work for the 10th annual Art on the Trails. The Elaine and Phillip Beals Preserve is located on Main Street in Southborough, Massachusetts. A map of installations can be found HERE.
This year’s theme is Time in the Landscape. A juried exhibition of sculptural installations will be on view beginning June 13th and closing on September 13th. The exhibition is juried by Artist Lisa Barthelson of Rutland, MA.

From Pterodactyl to Passenger Pigeon to Pileated Woodpecker
Art Juror Lisa Barthelson (Rutland, MA) said of the selection process, “Time in the Landscape invited artists to wrestle with something we all experience but rarely pause to examine…the way time moves through a place, and how a place holds time. The submissions this year were remarkable in their range and depth, and selecting from among them was both a privilege and a genuine challenge. I’m thrilled with the breadth of perspectives these sixteen projects bring to the trails, and I look forward to seeing how visitors encounter these works in the landscape in the months ahead.”
“The Southborough Open Land Foundation is delighted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Art on the Trails,” said Sally Watters, Trustee of the Southborough Open Land Foundation. “Seeing the preserve come alive each summer with extraordinary sculptures — and knowing that visitors of all ages are walking the trails and engaging with art in nature — is exactly what SOLF hopes to inspire.”
In addition to the installations, the program will include poetry written in response to the work and will be juried by poet Maura Snell of Woodstock, VT. A prize-winning poem will be selected from submissions by award-winning poet Laura Gunnells Miller of Tennessee.
